Former councillor Jonathan Sriranganathan did not deny he would be running for Lord Mayor amid reports he was the only person to put their hand up as a candidate for the Greens.
In an email circulated to Queensland Greens members concerning the candidate preselection for Brisbane City Council Lord Mayor in 2024 Mr Sriranganathan was featured as the only nominee.
Mr Sriranganathan said he could not comment on matters regarding preselection but sent well wishes to any potential Greens candidate.
“Whoever ends up running for the Greens, I wish them well, because it‘s very obvious this city needs a change of leadership to someone who will act meaningfully to address the housing crisis,” he told The Courier-Mail.
9 News reported that the party is to decide if he is to be put forward as their candidate but may reject him and attempt to find an alternative.
Mr Sriranganathan stepped down from his high-profile position in May handing the Gabba Ward position to former council candidate Trina Massey.
