Missing 90 minutes in millionaire’s alleged murder that’s gripped Brisbane

A millionaire slain. A family heartbroken. A city in shock. You could be the person to help piece together how we ended up here.

Detectives are appealing for dashcam footage from the night a Brisbane millionaire was stabbed to death in his Clayfield mansion.

Greg Josephson, 58, was found dead inside his Oriel St home about 8.15pm on June 26 after being stabbed at a teenage house party being held at the property.

A 15-year-old boy who was known to Mr Josephson has been charged with his murder.

The teenager called triple-0 and he was arrested a short time later.

Mr Josephson was the co-founder of popular Australian retail empire, Universal Store.

Detective Acting Superintendent Craig Williams said on June 27 police had located the weapon they will allege was used in the murder.

“I can confirm that there was a party underway at the house with a number of young persons at the house,” Superintendent Williams said.

“As for what had occurred prior to the incident, it is still under investigation.”

Shocked friends described Mr Josephson as “a gentle soul”.

“He was an amazing person, and we just can’t believe this has happened, it’s absolutely horrific,” one friend told The Courier-Mail.

On June 27, the teen’s matter was heard before Brisbane Children’s Court.

Magistrate Megan Power ordered a brief evidence be provided to the defence by August 22.

The matter was adjourned to September 2.

The boy was remanded in custody.

The well-known entrepreneur amassed a multi-million dollar property portfolio which includes a sprawling Sunshine Coast hinterland estate, plots of land, commercial buildings, and a boutique accommodation in Cooran bought in 2023 for $3.5 million.

The Clayfield home where Mr Josephson was killed had also recently been listed for sale.

Mr Josephson and his wife, Tamra, told The Courier-Mail in an interview in June they were sad to sell the home but were relocating to Noosa.

Operation X-ray Matte has been launched by Queensland Police and investigators are appealing to anyone with dashcam footage in the areas of Oriel Rd, Alexandra Rd and Barlow St, between the hours of 7pm to 8.30pm, to contact Crime Stoppers.

Anyone with any information that may assist with investigations is urged to come forward.
