Cornubia: Home, caravan destroyed in blaze

A house and caravan have been completely destroyed in a large fire south of Brisbane.

A house and caravan have been completely destroyed after a large blaze broke out in Logan just after 7pm on Saturday.

While firefighters had the Bromley St blaze under control just after 9pm the fire continued to burn, with six crews still at the scene in Cornubia late on Saturday night.

The home was well involved when firefighters arrived.

All residents were evacuated and nobody was injured.

It is not yet known what caused the blaze and fire investigators will head to the scene on Sunday morning.

Louie Naumovski of Logan House Fire Support Network said the family who lived in the home were “in shock obviously but doing okay”.

“They’re glad nobody is injured and that everyone got out,” he said.

“We got them emergency accommodation so that’s all good, they are insured so insurance will be taking over tomorrow.

“The main thing is everyone got out of there unharmed. With insurance things can be replaced, lives cannot be.”

Mr Naumovski said the fire broke out in the garage and was spotted by a passerby who alerted the occupants of the home.
