‘Contagious smile’: Heartbroken community rallies for teen crash victim

The driver of the sedan involved in a double fatal crash on Sunday has been remembered for his “contagious smile” by friends and a heartbroken community.

The driver of the sedan involved in a double-fatal crash on Sunday, Jimmy Bowie, has been remembered for his “contagious smile” by friends as a heartbroken community rallies together.

More than $2000, has been raised in a fundraiser on MyCause created by his friend Taleah Sharp.

“A horrific head on head crash took the lives of two young souls, one of them being Jimmy Bowie, he was a best mate to so many, a close friend, a brother, and a son,” Ms Taleah wrote.

“We will never forget the influence he had on all of us and the encouragement he had to all his friends and family to do our best in life and we will keep his memory and love for him on going in our heart and words.

“His contagious smile, laugh and optimistic energy will never leave us.

“Forever 17. We love you Jimmy, always will.”

Friends were quick to band together, posting tributes.

“You were such an inspiration to many and just a gorgeous person, everyone is gonna miss you like hell,” Avah wrote.

Others flooded Instagram with fond stories of the young man.

The crash happened when a 4WD ute and a sedan collided 15km northeast of Beaudesert on Beaudesert-Beenleigh Rd at Birnam, south of Brisbane, about 6.15pm Sunday.

Ben Grahame from Ormeau also died at the scene.

The driver of the 4WD ute, 17-year-old Ben Grahame from Ormeau, and Mr Bowie from Palen Creek, died at the scene.

Family friend Candy Looman paid tribute to Mr Grahame on social media overnight, describing him as “charismatic, funny, and the life of the party”.
