Queensland Health has confirmed a case of the measles has been reported on Brisbane’s southside.

The person was likely infectious while at Springwood Road State School on Wednesday February 7 between 8.30am and 3pm.

People who have been at the school during this time need to be alert for symptoms, especially if they have not received the two doses of the measles vaccine.

In a statement, Queensland Health advised that measles remains one of the most infectious of all communicable diseases and is spread by tiny droplets through coughing and sneezing.

“It is very important to call the medical practice first to say you could have measles, so that staff can take precautions to avoid spreading the disease to others,” it said.
