AN EARLY morning wake-up call was no issue for Alison Ariotti as she tackled the 10km in today’s The Sunday Mail-Suncorp Bank Bridge to Brisbane Day.
The Channel 9 presenter is mum to Mila, 3, and Luisa, seven months, and said husband Gerry was looking after their girls while she pounded the pavement.
“I’m usually running with a pram, so running without one gives me a complete sense of freedom,” she said.
“Last year we did the 5km together, with Mila in the pram, while I was about 20 weeks pregnant.
“I’m really looking forward to being out there with everyone. I absolutely love the event and the great sense of community it has.
“I think I’ve only missed one in about the last decade.”
This year’s event is sold out, with tens of thousands of entrants hitting two new routes.
Ariotti said she wasn’t looking to break a personal best today, after setting a cracking time a few years back with a very unique motivation.
“I was working with The Today Show and due to do a live cross at the finish line. I ended up running under 50 minutes because I was so worried I wouldn’t make it in time.”
