CMC clears Campbell Newman of any wrongdoing in relation to his financial disclosures as lord mayor

CAMPBELL Newman has been cleared of any wrongdoing in relation to his financial disclosures when he was Brisbane's lord mayor.

CAMPBELL Newman has been cleared of any wrongdoing in relation to his financial disclosures when he was Brisbane's lord mayor.

The Crime and Misconduct Commission has released a statement saying the LNP Leader has no case to answer over allegations he failed to disclose relevant material in his pecuniary interests register.

It comes after a complaint from Treasurer Andrew Fraser to the corruption watchdog after properties owned by a family company were not specifically listed.

Four other allegations were also included in the complaint.

However, the CMC said it had assessed the allegations and the relevant rules and found there was no need for a formal investigation.

"The assessment concluded that Mr Newman was not required by law to disclose any interest in relation to the five potential breaches," it said.

"Therefore, the CMC does not consider that the matters alleged involve official misconduct and will not conduct an investigation into the allegations."
