CLIVE Palmer has defended calling Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill a “b*tch”, saying while the wording was “harsh”, he stands by his comments.
Mr Palmer has come under fire this week after video footage from his campaign office launch showed him criticising the Mayor and laughing with the assembled crowd about his decision to sue Cr Hill.
On his Twitter account this morning, Mr Palmer said “stood by his criticisms of Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill” and claimed “she had caused enormous damage to the North Queensland economy”.
Mr Palmer claimed news articles about the exchange were a “media beat-up”.
“I was responding to the fact that the Mayor of Townsville had called me a criminal, among other untruthful and damaging things,’’ Mr Palmer wrote on his Twitter account.
“My wording was harsh, however I stand by my criticism of the Mayor who has caused devastation in her city by working against QNI.”
