Shoppers evacuated after vehicle crashes into Chinchilla kebab shop on Price St

Emergency services evacuated shoppers over concerns of major structural damage to the entire building after a car crashed into a Chinchilla kebab shop. Here’s the latest.

A driver was taken to Chinchilla Hospital with minor lacerations after the vehicle he was driving barrelled through a kebab shop on Price St, Chinchilla on Tuesday afternoon.

It is believed the injured driver was a man in his 20s, while a passenger who was in the vehicle was uninjured.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said two crews were called out to the scene in regards to a building collapse after a single-vehicle collision on August 29 at 2.22pm.

The spokesman said both the vehicle and building suffered major damage.

Everyone inside the kebab shop and neighbouring buildings were evacuated and thankfully no bystanders were injured.

He said there was concern for the building being unstable after incident and noted there was only damage to the walls and front window only.

They confirmed after checks there were no major structural concerns.

The car was removed from the building within 20 minutes by about 2.40pm.

Ergon Energy performed checks on the electricity supply and left the scene at about 4pm.
