SENEX Energy's board of directors has just seen first-hand the latest developments at Project Atlas as drilling and construction works outside Wandoan continue.

Senex recently started drilling a total of 110 wells across Project Atlas and Roma North, with first gas planned for late 2019.

CEO and managing director Ian Davies said it was important for the board to see the progress themselves.

"It's an exciting time for Senex with project delivery well underway for our natural gas projects in the Surat Basin,” Mr Davies said.

"We wanted to take the opportunity to not only see progress, but also say thank you to our dedicated staff and contractors who are working safely and efficiently every day.

"The commencement of drilling is an important milestone for Senex to reach our initial gas production target of around 18 PJ of gas per year from the Surat Basin by the end of June 2021.

"Our progress also demonstrates positive collaboration and strong relationships with the local community, businesses and service providers.”
