A Tara home was saved from utter destruction after an out-of-control blaze began licking the corners of the house.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency spokeswoman said a pile of burning rubbish near the Ridge Road almost spread to the home.

After hearing a loud bang at and seeing smoke rise from a neighbouring property, a concerned Tara resident was quick to lend a hand.

The Chinchilla News understands before firefighters arrived on scene at noon, a neighbour transported at least two tanks of water to stop the blaze from spreading.

The spokeswoman said four crews were assigned to the Tara property on Tuesday, October 5.

“The fire didn’t spread to the structure, although the outside was burnt on one corner,” she said.

Queensland Police Service and Queensland Ambulance Service were also on scene.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said no one was treated on scene.
