DEFENDING champion Novak Djokovic says he will have to take his game to another level to beat Richard Gasquet in tonight's semi-finals at Wimbledon.

After beating US Open champion Marin Cilic 6-4 6-4 6-4 to reach his 27th grand slam semi-final - the most behind only Roger Federer (38), Jimmy Connors (31) and Ivan Lendl (28) - Djokovic said he hoped he could play even better.

"I'm hoping I have that extra gear," the world No.1 said. "I'm hoping it can come out now in the semi-finals."

In the other semi-final, 2013 winner Andy Murray (pictured) will have the chance to take his career record against Roger Federer to 12-12 after the Scot beat Canada's Vasek Pospisil 6-4 7-5 6-4. Federer, a seven-time champion at the All England Club, earned his spot in the last four by beating France's Gilles Simon 6-3 7-5 6-2.

The Swiss ace has a perfect 9-0 record in semi-finals at Wimbledon.
