NOTHING says 'Christmas spirit' quite like finding Christmas lights sparkling around our streets.
And with less than a month before Santa comes to town it's time to break them out again, as the Chinchilla Community Commerce and Industry launches it's annual Christmas Lights competition.
CCCI events organiser Gaye Smith said this year's competition is 'bigger and better'.
"We've been fortunate enough, lucky enough to have local sponsorship this year for our prizes, and there are a number of businesses around town that are supporting this venture,” Ms Smith said.
"We have two categories again this year, the best decorated home and the best decorated business.
"We would love to see as many beautiful homes and businesses to light up our town as possible.”
Entry forms can be found in the pages of this week's Chinchilla News, with judging set down for Monday, December 10.
"You need to have your lights on then as our judging panel will be coming around to view the entries,” Ms Smith said.
For Ms Smith, the competition is a fun way to enjoy the Christmas cheer,
"It just promotes Christmas spirit I think, and getting into the festive season. The community loves it,” she said.
Sponsors this year include Drakes, Gleeson Quality Meats, Keating Home Hardware, Enzed Surat Basin, White Lotus Hair and Beauty, Chinchilla RSL, MPC Kinetic, the Club Hotel, and the Chinchilla News.
