Labor saves $5 clean energy subsidy for bludgers

The Shorten led opposition is so lost in its ways it just lobbied hard to save a $5 clean energy subsidy for people on welfare.

SUCH is the state of Australian Federal politics that the following facts are being held forth in earnest:

In order to pass its Omnibus Bill - which is essentially just a massive list of amendments aimed at getting the budget back in surplus - the Government has struck a deal with Bill Shorten and the Labor Party. 

That's right folks and what did the deal entail? Well, Labor lobbied hard to save a $5 a week clean energy reimbursement for welfare recipients. 

And in return the Turnbull led Coalition agreed to scrap a $1000 baby bonus for new parents - which was set to cost $1.4 billion.

Are these people serious? A $5 repayment so people on the dole can help subsidise wind farms and solar?

At least some of the people getting a baby bonus may actually pay taxes.

Surely reducing the price of electricity is a preferable solution to a handout.

The fact is Government's books are cooked, this financial year we'll declare a $37.1 billion deficit and next year a $26.1 billion deficit and the year after that a $15.4 billion deficit and after that, in 2019-20 we'll go backwards another cheeky $6 billion.

So, in the next four years Australia will take on $84.6 billion worth of debt and that's an optimistic estimate which is assuming we stick to the plan and don't encounter economic turmoil or uncertainty. 

Maybe the best way the ensure the future of our young people is to make sure there's more money for their schooling, their healthcare, their tertiary education?

And as far as a $5 payment so people on the dole can help reduce carbons emissions perhaps that money could be injected into an economic sector that doesn't rely on government handouts in order to do business.
