Police charge Cunnamulla man with 35 offences after crime spree

The man was arrested in more than 1000km from his home in South West Queensland.

After extensive investigations into several serious offences, specialist police have arrested a man who has been on the run for about a month.

Officers from both Cunnamulla station and Cunnamulla Criminal Investigation Branch will allege a 36-year-old Cunnamulla man was involved in upwards of 25 incidents since October 12, including four break-and-enters and two burglaries, as well as property crime offences including stealing, trespassing and wilful damage incidents, and serious domestic violence-related offences.

Specialist police located the man at a Charters Towers address about 1.20pm on Saturday and took him into custody.

He has since been charged more than 25 offences including three counts of enter premises and commit indictable offence by break, two counts each of enter dwelling and commit, stealing, evade police, and one count each of enter with intent, trespass, wilful damage evasion offence and evasion offence at night, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and multiple domestic violence-related offences.

The man is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on Monday.

Investigations are continuing and detectives are appealing to anyone with information relating to these incidents, including those in or around Cunnamulla during October that could assist, to contact police.
