A South West Queensland local government area is on the hunt for a new chief executive, and they’re offering a lot to lure a great candidate to the region.

The Paroo Shire Council is looking to hire a new chief executive, and the position has a lot to offer.

The successful candidate will be generously remunerated with up to $250,000 per year on the table, five weeks annual leave with 17.5 per cent loading, a car and a fully furnished house for accommodation.

The contract for a term of between three and five years.

For an applicant who would need to move for the position, there are also “reasonable relocation” expenses to claim.

The council listing included details on the criteria sought for the role, which includes extensive industry knowledge in local council, and strong leadership, communication, and management skills.

The role of the chief executive in a local council is to help the councillors and mayor make informed decisions, as well as manage the day-to-day operation of council in the region.
