Emergency services respond to crashes on Mitchell Highway over Christmas

Christmas celebrations were over before they started for some this year, with emergency services responding to two significant crashes on the Mitchell Highway near Bakers Bend.
A 39-year-old man was transported to Charleville hospital with spinal precaution, after he struck a kangaroo on the Mitchell Highway at 2.48am on December 24.
Police have urged drivers to stay vigilant while driving and always watch out for wildlife, particularly in the early hours of the morning and in the early evening.
A second man was also taken to Charleville hospital after an incident which occured on the Mitchell Highway at Bakers Bend at 9.40am on Christmas Day.
Police are still investigating the circumstances of the single-vehicle collision. It is understood that the 49-year-old man’s vehicle left the roadway sometime overnight, and was located on Christmas morning by road users. The man was taken to Charleville hospital in a stable condition with neck and back injuries.
