TOUGH new restrictions on public spaces have been imposed by Prime Minister Scott Morrison, in a nationwide effort to halt the spread of COVID-19.

From midday today, places including gyms, churches, and licensed areas of pubs will be closed indefinitely, while cafes, restaurants are being restricted to takeaway and delivery service only.

The PM has urged all Aussies to observe social distancing measures in the public spaces which will remain open, but warned that tighter regulations could be coming to areas that don't comply, or have outbreaks of coronavirus.

"We need you to do your bit when it comes to social distancing, to keeping that healthy distance, to respecting and following the rules that we're setting down," Mr Morrison said.

"But more stronger measures will be coming and they will be coming in more localised areas to deal with outbreaks."

With local businesses working to follow the new rules, here is what it will mean for the licensed venues, restaurants and cafes in Charleville:

Hotel Corones

While the main bar will be closed to the public from midday, the hotel is still offering takeaway meals for lunch (12pm-2pm) and dinner (6pm-8pm).

The bottle shop will be operating from 10am to 7pm Monday-Wednesday, 10am-8pm Thursday-Saturday, and 10am-5pm on Sunday.
