Channel 7 Gold Coast news reader Amanda Abate has shared her joy at giving birth to her second child conceived through in vitro fertilisation.
“We have our little girl,” Abate wrote on her Instagram account next to some adorable baby photos, including one with husband Brent and another of their toddler son, Bobby, doting over his new baby sister.
“Pia Rose Beauchamp arrived 11.8.22, happy & healthy, and just over 3kgs (sic).”
“Welcome to the world our sweet pea! Big brother Bobby is still working on being “gentle” but is besotted with her big baby sister. So are we.”
Pia and Bobby were both conceived through in vitro fertilisation (IVF), which Abate described last month as “a little bit of magic and quite a lot of science”.
IVF is one of the most well-known types of assisted reproductive technologies and is a series of medical procedures used to help with fertility or other issues that might be preventing a couple from falling pregnant naturally.
Abate and fellow Seven Gold Coast News presenters Sally Pearson and Liz Cantor were all pregnant at the same time, with Pearson and Cantor yet to have their babies.
Pearson, the former athletics golden girl turned sports anchor, was among the first to congratulate Abate and her husband.
“Congratulations, Pia is beautiful,” she posted with a love heart emoji.
Nine Gold Coast rival Eva Milic and star ironwoman Courtney Hancock were among dozens of other wellwishers.
