Rodeo royalty has bang to his bucks

Bull riding and bull hauling is in Clermont's Dakota Brandenburg's blood, and she is proud to bring rodeo royalty Gotcha Rockin to Emerald's PBR.

CLERMONT'S Dakota Brandenburg looks like your average 19-year-old.

But not every teenager can say they are the youngest female bucking bull owner and contractor in the world.

As the daughter of two-time Australian bull riding champion Darren Brandenburg, the sport of bull riding and bull hauling is in Dakota's blood and she is proud to be the youngest female Professional Bull Rider Association contractor in Australia.

Gotcha Rockin bucked his way through the Rockhampton PBR and Dakota will bring the rodeo royalty to the Emerald series on November 28.

"Every time we get a chance to watch this awesome athlete is exciting and I most definitely wouldn't miss it," Dakota said.

At just 18, Dakota decided university wasn't for her and told her parents she wanted to continue the family business and be a professional bull riding stock contractor.

She has not looked back.

"I have grown up in the rodeo scene my whole life and couldn't imagine not being involved in the sport of bull riding," Dakota said.

"It is a great feeling to have come so far doing what I love, but I don't find my age or my gender intimidating at all because I've been involved in this sport forever.

"Bull riding is an adrenaline-filled sport and watching such talented animal athletes match up against some of the most talented bull riders across Australia makes it even better."
