Central Highlands communities will receive a share in $2 million to bring local arts and cultural project ideas to life.
Central Highlands Regional Council has been successful in obtaining grant funding of $39,500 through Arts Queensland’s Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF).
Mayor Kerry Hayes said council would be able to support more than $60,000 worth of arts and cultural projects in the 2021-2022 financial year.
“I encourage everyone with great art and cultural project idea to apply for the funding and bring your ideas into our community,” he said.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to turn a project idea into reality or take it that little bit further and I am very excited to see what ideas come to fruition from this year’s funding.”
Arts Minister Leeanne Enoch said the state government was investing $2.08 million through RADF in 2021-22, matched with a contribution of about $2.3m from 59 councils across the state.
“RADF is a great example of working together to deliver our Covid economic recovery plan, supporting employment opportunities and creating new arts and cultural experiences in local and regional communities,” she said.
“RADF in 2021–2022 will provide valuable social, health and economic outcomes for regional Queenslanders, and support our government’s 10-year arts road map priorities to strengthen Queensland communities, activate local places, and drive social change across the state.
“Our investment complements the state government’s wider commitment to regional arts, including continued support of $6m over four years for the Regional Arts Services Network.”
Applications for round one will open on Monday, August 16, close on Friday, September 17 and the Central Highlands Arts and Cultural Advisory Committee will assess applications on October 1.
