TENNIS: Rafael Nadal is aiming for his 13th grand slam singles crown in tomorrow morning's men's singles final at the US Open.
Nadal will take on world No.1 Novak Djokovic, the pair having split their previous two meetings in the final at Flushing Meadows.
The Spaniard beat Djokovic in 2010 to complete his career slam at the four venues - Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open - but the Serb bounced back to make it 1-1 when they met again the following year.
In their careers, the Serb holds a 3-2 edge in head-to-head grand slam finals against Nadal. The pair have met 36 times overall, with Nadal holding a 21-15 advantage.
Djokovic made the final the hard way, taking more than four hours to get past much-improved Swiss player Stanislas Wawrinka 2-6 7-6 3-6 6-3 6-4. Wawrinka had earlier knocked out defending champin Andy Murray in straight sets.
Nadal had a much easier time against Frenchman Richard Gasquet, winning 6-4 7-6 6-2 in two hours, 21 minutes.
If Djokovic is to win the final, he will need to return exceptionally well because Nadal has dropped serve just once in the tournament.
