Adventurers from across the region are encouraged to head to Middlemount for Father’s Day weekend to check out some of the best views on offer.
The Blue Mountain Bolt is a hill climb challenge for participants of all ages to sprint, jog or walk from the Middlemount Sportsground up to Blue Mountain Park and back.
This year it will be held as part of Middlemount’s 40th celebrations and will take place on Father’s Day.
Isaac Regional councillor Jane Pickels said the 4.3km course offered great views, regardless of how quickly it was scaled.
“Sport is a huge part of our Isaac culture and being part of the Bolt, as either a competitor or spectator, is not only a fantastic way to start the day but also a wonderful way to celebrate the great Middlemount spirit,” she said.
“There will be awards for first, second and third place in Open and Junior Men’s and Open and Junior Women’s categories, with all pre-registered entrants taking home a memento of the day.
“And if style is more your speed, we’re also awarding a special $100 Shop Isaac gift card to the best-dressed entrant.”
The Blue Mountain Bolt is being presented in conjunction with the Move It NQ and is kicking off at 8am on Sunday, September 5.
Check-in for participants is open from 7am to 7.40am at the Middlemount Sportsground.
Participants are encouraged to pre-register and find more information here.
Following the event, a barbecue breakfast will be available back at the Middlemount Sportsground for all participants and their cheerleaders.
Ms Pickels said events like the Bolt help communities to thrive.
“We are so lucky to have such energetic communities and the people that make them amazing,” she said.
“Events like this and the Middlemount 40th celebrations require a lot of planning and preparation and a great deal of people power to bring to life.
“This would not happen without the help from volunteers and community groups, so we say thank you.”
