Residents at Clermont and surrounds will soon have access to Covid vaccinations close to home, despite ongoing struggles with its health services.

Local pharmacy, Guardian Clermont, will offer Covid vaccinations in-pharmacy from Monday, July 5, with the first week already booked out.

Owner Grant Oswald said he hoped the vaccination clinic would help restore a sense of normality to people’s lives.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the community response so far, with almost all appointments for the first week already booked out,” he said.

“Accessing health care can be extremely difficult in rural communities like ours, and for the local doctors to have to take on Covid vaccinations on top of their huge workload would virtually be impossible.

“We are really pleased to be able to provide this vital service in pharmacy and play a key role in getting as many people as possible in the Clermont community vaccinated so we can all move forward and get some normality back in our lives.”

A newly appointed nurse immuniser, Nicolette Willis, is set to administer the Astrazeneca vaccinations, which will initially be available to anyone over the age of 60, with plans to expand the offering to younger age groups when supplies become more readily available.

To book in for your Covid vaccination, visit Guardian Clermont or call the pharmacy on 07 4983 1036.
