Djokovic on road to winning another Australian Open title

NOVAK Djokovic's bid to become the first man to take three consecutive Australian Open singles crowns is off and running.

NOVAK Djokovic's bid to become the first man to take three consecutive Australian Open singles crowns is off and running after a straight-sets win over Frenchman Paul-Henry Mathieu 6-2, 6-4, 7-5.

The Serb will now take on big-serving American Ryan Harrison who took four sets to defeat Colombian Santiago Giraldo 2-6 6-4 7-5 6-4.

The world No.1 said he was pleased with his rhythm in his first outing.

"There are some few adjustments that I need to make and get a little bit sharper on the court," Djokovic said.

"But, you know, it's expected in the first match you're still not, you know, being a 100% on the court. You're trying to, but it's going to get better with matches that I play."

Djokovic said he was looking forward to playing Harrison and knew what to expect.

"He's one of these up-andcoming young talents who has been playing well on the tour for the last few years," he said.

"He has a big serve which he likes to use and big forehand.

"I played him few times before on different surfaces. I know what it takes to win that match."
