New Bunnings in Central Qld includes plans for future expansion
Tenders to construct a new Bunnings Warehouse in Central Qld worth up to $50m are due to close this week.
Tenders to construct a new Bunnings Warehouse at Emerald, to include hardware and trade supplies, showroom and garden centre, are due to close this week.
According to tender estimate management site, Estimate One, the project has an approximate budget of between $30m to $50m, with three builders having submitted tenders as of September 29.
Bunnings property and store development director Garry James confirmed the development application approval.
“We’re always looking at opportunities to improve our existing store network and recently our development application for a proposed Bunnings in Emerald was approved,” Mr James said.
“While no timelines are confirmed at this stage, we hope to soon be in a position to appoint a builder and bring a Bunnings to the local community.”
Central Highlands Regional Council approved the project on June 25 with the proposal involving a staged development with a ‘small’ Bunnings Warehouse involving 7,767m2 in retail space established as part of stage 1, followed by a stage 2 expansion with an additional 1,184m2 of retail area.
In its approval, the council found the development on Lot 1 Pilot Farm Road, near the Gregory Highway, was consistent with the surrounding neighbourhood character and similar to uses established within the surrounding area.
The first stage will include construction of the main warehouse, (3,885m2), outdoor nursery area, (734m2), bagged good canopy area, (999m2), timber trade sales area (1,412m2), building materials and landscape yard area (737m2), goods inward receiving bay (83.5m2) and 211 car park spaces, including 8 PWD spaces and 6 trailer spaces.
There will be vehicle access on Pilot Farm Road and Ballard Street.
The expansion to 8,952m2, which includes the warehouse increasing to 4,613m2, will result in the loss of 29 car park spaces to a reduced total of 182.
