'Diversity of choice' needed in 'baseload' energy market

For the past 30 years, Kestrel Coal Resources has been an integral part of the Central Queensland community, supporting hundreds of jobs and giving back to the region.

Mining originally began at Kestrel in 1992 before expanding to Kestrel South in 2012, which raised metallurgical coal production up to seven million tonnes per year.

This was a major landmark for Kestrel Coal Resources.

Now the company is commemorating 30 years of production at its Kestrel mine with an Anniversary Gala.

The Gala will benefit the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) in its delivery of primary health care and aeromedical services across the state.

Emerald Town Hall will host the event on Friday, August 8 at 6.30pm.

The gala is open to Kestrel employees, their families, and locals who have helped make the business what it is today.

Kestrel Coal Resources CEO Shane Hansen was excited to share this moment which will celebrate the company’s achievements with the local Central Queensland community and was proud of what the company had achieved.

“As we reflect on where Kestrel’s journey started to where we are now, there is a deep sense of pride and accomplishment felt right across the organisation,” Mr Hansen said.

“The 30th Anniversary Gala is an opportunity for us to celebrate the success of Kestrel over the last three decades, and recognise the family, friends and local community members who have helped to shape what Kestrel is today.

“We are equally proud of the more than $3 million in community support we have contributed over the last 30 years through our community development fund, sponsorships and donations, in addition to two houses gifted to local community organisations for temporary and long-term rentals for those in need.

“To everyone past and present who has played a part in Kestrel’s history, we thank you.”

Tickets are $100 per person, and include a fun night of canapes, drinks, live music and lucky door prizes.

All the money from ticket sales will go to the Queensland Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Ticket sales for the gala will close on Friday, July 1.
