An alleged drunk driver told police he was ‘looking for trouble’ after blasting music from his car outside the Dysart Police Station and sounding his horn.
Senior Constable Nick Schmidt said a 31-year-old Edmonton man was issued with a notice to appear for mid-range drink driving and had his license immediately suspended over the incident.
Snr Const. Schmidt alleged that on May 14, about 9.15pm, the man pulled his vehicle up outside Dysart Police Station playing high volume music.
After several minutes of this, he said police approached the driver who said he was about to leave.
About 10 minutes later police allege the same driver returned and blasted his horn for an extended period of time, before he left again.
Snr Const. Schmidt said a short time later police stopped the man in his vehicle on Garnham Drive, Dysart for a roadside breath test, and he allegedly recorded a BAC of .147 per cent – nearly three times the legal limit.
When police asked the man why he repeatedly drew attention to himself, the man allegedly said he was ‘looking for trouble’.
It was not the only mid-range drink driving offence recorded in Dysart last week.
Snr Const. Schmidt said that at 7pm on May 13 officers from Dysart Police Station responded to a non-injury traffic crash on Connors Street, Dysart.
Police will allege the driver hit a trailer parked on the side of the road, which caused substantial damage to his vehicle and the trailer.
He said a 66-year-old Dysart man had his licence immediately suspended and was issued a notice to appear for mid-range drink driving after he allegedly recorded a BAC of .146 per cent, which is also about three times the legal limit.
Both men are due to appear in Mackay Magistrates Court on May 30.
