SHOW societies across Australia struggle to fill committees and find it especially difficult to get young people on board due to the time commitment.
But that hasn't stopped Fiona Polzin stepping up in her hometown to help put together a successful country show.
Ms Polzin was just 20 years old when she first took on the role of secretary with the Gayndah Show Society in 2016.
"I've been going to the Gayndah Show all my life and my dad has been involved in running the show for as long as I can remember,” Ms Polzin said.
"One day before an AGM I was having a chat to Dad and he was saying they might not be able to get a committee together, and I thought 'well I could help run a show'.
"Since then it's been an easy decision for me to stay because of the support I have from my family and the support you receive from the committee.”
Ms Polzin's father Cameron is the president of the Gayndah Show Society.
While Ms Polzin has seen many shows in her time, last year's was one of her favourites because the rodeo was brought back after years without it.
"Watching my brother and my cousin get to do a bull ride in front of all our family and friends was definitely my favourite part,” she said.
And this year it will be back again.
"You can't top a rodeo, so I'm hoping it's here to stay,” Ms Polzin said.
Ms Polzin expects a new addition to the entertainment line-up will also be a crowd favourite.
A wood carver will be showing off his skills throughout the day before auctioning off his craft later in the evening, after the dog jumping show.
This year the event will go without a showgirl competition, but it won't go without a showgirl.
"It's hard to get showgirl entrants on a regular year, and with the Orange Festival we just decided it wasn't going to work this year,” Ms Polzin said.
"We approached Sarah Duncan and we're happy that she agreed to be 2019's Miss Showgirl.”
Ms Polzin said planning for the show was coming together well and the recent rain had made the grounds green just in time for the event.
This weekend the committee will be joined by volunteers as preparations get under way to get the Gayndah Showground show-ready.
"A bit more rain before the show wouldn't hurt, but we're hoping for a sunny show day,” she said.
"In saying that, last year's show had a few light showers and it didn't cause any problems.”
