THE cost of getting a university education will rise 32% over the next 10 years.

The ASG Planning for University Index says first year course costs for accounting, law, veterinary science and medicine degrees will jump from $10,440 in 2016 to $13,801 in 2026 and for journalism, nursing, teaching and psychology the cost will lift from $2014 to $8270.

Researchers took into account a range of variables including uni course fees and expenses for transport, computers, study placements and rent when calculating the figures.
