A TRIPLE threat, Matthew Zipf took to the state stage sporting his athletic prowess in javelin, discus and shot put.
Competing alongside Wide Bay teammates Luke Calleja and Lucas McAskill, Zipf threw an impressive 45.7m in javelin.
"It wasn't my best performance but I'm pretty glad to have made it that far,” he said.
"I'm pretty happy to have done what I did and encourage anyone to try as hard as they can if they wish for the same outcome or better.”
Zipf said competing at the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre was an experience like no other.
"For starters, the facilities are much more advanced,” he said.
"As in they have an actual designed ground for javelin instead of just grass.”
Zipf also said the other competitors had a lot more size to them than the competition he was used to.
"It was very intimidating being the smallest participant,” he said.
"Finally, the atmosphere was much more intense as there was practically a full crowd watching instead of a few parents.”
With new ventures to focus on in the new year, Zipf said his throwing days were likely over.
"I don't think it will be as important to me as it was this year,” he said.
"Although I have been offered to be trained, I think I'll relax from now on.
"But I don't know, I might need some sort of activity to stay fit.”
