RUGBY LEAGUE: Eidsvold prodigy Trai Fuller's meteoric rise through the Queensland rugby league ranks has ended in fairytale.

The Burnett boy capped off a whirlwind first season in the Intrust Super Cup with a premiership.

In just his ninth game in the state's premier competition, the 21-year-old fullback helped the Redcliffe Dolphins snap a 13-year title drought in Sunday's final.

The Eidsvold Eagles junior starred on the big stage, scoring two tries in the historic 36-22 win over the Easts Tigers at Suncorp Stadium.

Fuller debuted for the Dolphins off the bench in Round 4 and was given just 28 minutes on the park before he was handed the number one jersey full-time in Round 20, a month out from the finals.

He grabbed the opportunity with both hands, and after a one-point loss and draw in his first two starts, spearheaded a five-game undefeated run to the premiership, bagging six tries along the way.

After a taste of premiership success last year with Redcliffe's Under 20s side, the St Brendan's product rose to the occasion in front of a 7504-strong crowd at Lang Park.

"I was pretty stoked to get the win and it was probably my best game of the year,” Fuller said.

"The nerves helped me perform better.

"I'm so lucky to play with a good team and be involved in a grand final win in my first year.

"Pretty much all of my family live in Eidsvold and most of them came down for the game.

"The celebrations were pretty big, the Redcliffe Leagues Club was going off.”

The Dolphins are now bound for Sydney, where they take on the Bulldogs in a blockbuster state championship at ANZ Stadium, the curtain raiser for the NRL grand final.

Fuller has only ever watched the NRL grand final on TV. His first visit to ANZ Stadium will be as a player.

It's a remarkable accomplishment for the youngster, on his mission to fulfil a childhood dream.

Fuller was lured from the Capras to Brisbane to join the Broncos Under 20s system in 2014.

Despite not earning a start in the now-defunct Toyota National Youth Competition, he said he never lost sight of the ultimate goal.

"It's so good to finally get out and compete against the best players,” he said.

"My dream is to get up there and play some NRL.

"I want to try and get a gig. If I keep playing some good footy I'll hopefully get an NRL contract in the next couple of years.

"That's the goal.”
