FOR Year 12 student Sarah Duncan this year's trip to Queensland State Athletics was her sixth, and her last opportunity to represent Burnett State College, but she's not about to step off the track any time soon.
"This is not the end of my career as an athlete,” Duncan said.
"A few months ago I completed my level two coaching course in Little Athletics and, with this qualification, I intend to keep helping out at Gayndah Little Athletics and hopefully in the future train athletes privately.”
At any chance she gets Sarah gives her all to sporting events, and State Athletics was no different.
She placed fifth in discus, eighth in javelin and eleventh in shot put.
"I'm very happy with how I competed over the three days of State Athletics,” Duncan said.
"There is a massive difference from competing in the rurals to a big city stadium where there are many dedicated athletes giving it their best shot for a place in the top eight in Queensland.
"With thousands of seats and people the atmosphere, it's quite a sight to remember and an opportunity which I have been fortunate to attend now for six years.”
Duncan received senior sportsperson of the year at last week's Burnett State College Awards Night.
She said although she's not sure where her sporting will take her, she's sure the journey will be fun.
"Every year I make sporting goals which I endeavour to achieve,” she said.
"I train hard so that I can make my goals come true.
"This year my goal was to make a final, top eight, for at least one or more events which I have achieved with a big smile on my face.”
