A JURY has taken less than two hours to find a Mackay father guilty of raping his biological daughter over a number of years.

The man, 43, who cannot be named in order to protect his daughter's identity, sat in the prisoner's dock shaking his head and rocking back and forth following the verdict.

The three-day trial this week in Brisbane District Court heard the girl was aged between four and 10 at the time of the offences which included frequent penile rape.

The court heard the offences took place while the family was living at Howard, near Hervey Bay and Bundaberg, between 2002 and 2008.

Crown prosecutor Sarah Dennis said the man had deprived his daughter of a childhood and the offences were particularly heinous given it always involved penile penetration.

She said the man had a criminal history in QLD, NSW, SA and WA for minor traffic and driving related offences.

"This man has shown absolutely no remorse for his actions," she said.

"His daughter had to undergo the rigours of a trial where she was accused of fabricating the incidents and accused of lying.

"The offences are a gross breach of trust and are in the highest category given he was the girl's biological father."

Defence barrister Kym Bryson said the man, a former Central Queensland mine worker, came from a large family who moved around a lot while he was growing up.

She said the man had lived in Maryborough, Mackay, Rockhampton and Gladstone during his life.

Judge David Reid said the crimes were vile offences and sentenced the man to nine years behind bars.
