While she says she never had any desire to take on the role of a police officer herself, she always enjoyed contributing to and helping the community.

“I have been able to help so many in the community, and I have been stoked that so many have come along and wished me well in my retirement,” she said.

She said it was always rewarding work and thanked her colleagues.

“They’ve (the officers) all been extremely good to me, and we’ve had a really nice working relationship during my time,” she said.

“It’s just a big family.”

Mrs Mesner said she would continue bookkeeping part-time but looked forward to her official send off on August 25, 2023, where the public would be invited to say their goodbyes.

She left the station on Thursday, July 6 and will enjoy a year of long service leave before she officially retires.
