FROM her familiar last name to her career in mineral mining and her upbringing on a local farm, Paige Wallace bleeds Mount Perry through and through.

It's what made her an obvious choice for the 2019 Mount Perry Show Girl.

For generations her ancestors have helped the show run smoothly.

"My great grandparents, even my great great grandparents, were involved so it's always been a focus of our family to be involved in the local show,” Miss Wallace said.

"We've always helped in the pavilion, this year my mum is doing the catering, dad is down in the yards helping, my sister is helping out and was also Miss Show Girl last year and my extended family is running the office.”

Despite moving to Rockhampton this year to begin her career with Weir Minerals, the 19-year-old was excited to return home to be the face of her town.

"Miss Show Girl has always been exciting to me because I've watched family and friends do it over the years and mum said 'that will be you girls one day' and now it is finally our turn,” Miss Wallace said.

"I've been given the opportunity to represent my local community, the place I call home, and I get to mingle with the locals and see what goes on in the show committee more so than I have before.

"I grew up five minutes from town on a farm and I went to school here so I have always had a lot of involvement within the community.”

Miss Wallace said almost every aspect of the community was shown off on Saturday, but one in particular always shines each year.

"Definitely the talent in the cattle as we are a very cattle-focused community,” she said.

"But anywhere you see people volunteering just shows how much the community puts in to their local show and how proud they are.”
