MUNDUBBERA Hospital cares for locals who are dealing with serious illness and its plight has touched the hearts of local business owners Ashley and Rebecca Doessel.
The couple own Landmark Mundubbera, one of 24 Landmark rural supply stores around the country involved in the Grow4Good program that supports local community causes.
Grow4Good is a Bayer initiative, supported by Landmark, and is donating up to $100,000 to local community causes that help change rural lives for the better.
Bayer asked Landmark agents to submit a proposal to receive a grant for their cause, and Landmark Mundubbera was successful with its submission for an upgrade to Mundubbera Hospital's palliative care room.
"We want to support our local hospital auxiliary. Someone knows someone who is in palliative care, going to palliative care or has been in palliative care,” Mr Doessel said.
"The aim is to create a specific room for families; a warm and comfortable environment for them to support their loved ones.
"We're extremely grateful for the support of the Grow4Good program.”
Landmark Mundubbera will aim to raise up to $3000 by March 31, 2019. For every drum of Movento, a chemical used by orchardists, sold Bayer will donate $50 towards the cause.
Bayer's national key account manager Ben Thompson said it was clear that their customers were committed to their communities and the Grow4Good program would assist with the already fantastic fundraising efforts of dedicated locals.
"The quality of Grow4Good proposals received have been excellent, so choosing our final 24 was extremely difficult,” Mr Thompson said.
"Whether it's to purchase a life-saving defibrillator, help with cancer treatment or for a new school playground, Bayer is extremely proud to be supporting farming communities that give us all so much.”
