WITH more than 30 players turning up to compete each week, Gayndah Touch Football Association's junior season was a huge success.
The season wrapped up last week and junior co-ordinator Jane Johnson said she loved turning up every week to watch the players have fun and grow their skills.
"I think it's great for their confidence and it gives them an opportunity to connect with their mates in a different environment and learn to work as part of a team,” she said.
"We didn't name any winning teams, but we recognised players as best and fairest and most improved.”
Johnson said the sport was also great for getting kids fit, and it's affordable.
While the season won't start up again until July 2019, there are still opportunities for the players to stay involved.
"We're hoping to take some of the junior teams to compete in the Bundaberg Cup in February,” Johnson said.
"And the we have Hervey Bay State Touch in July too, which is a huge carnival.”
Gayndah Touch Football Association president Stacey Duncan said juniors were the future of the club.
Johnson said next season they would lose half of the players to the senior competition and they were looking for new juniors aged six to 13 to come along for some fun competition.
Junior touch runs from 4-5pm on Wednesdays, before the senior competition, and those interested in getting involved can contact Jane Johnson on 0487 672 987.
