A DETERMINED team made up of five juniors, Hammertime took out Mundubbera Social Touch Football's finals when they beat Thrifty 5-4.

Club secretary Melinda Thorburn said the finish of the 2018 social touch season in Mundubbera was incredibly close.

"After every round there was only a few points separating teams, with some locked up and needing points for and against to determine placings,” she said.

"The quality of play was commendable and the spirit of good sportsmanship was great to observe.”

Thorburn was impressed with the growing number of families and juniors who are showing up to play touch on Monday nights.

The field is often surrounded by prams, because of the number of parents who play, and Thorburn said it creates a really positive vibe.

"The juniors are where the future of our sport lays,” she said.

"Hammertime, who were eventual winners of the A grade final, was made up of five juniors, four females and three males.

"This was a team that on paper was disadvantaged, but due to the effort and willingness of each player, improved every game and came out on top.”

The B grade winners were The Travellers who had a 10-3 win over Smackdown.

Thorburn said they are looking forward to the 2019 season which will kick off in mid February.

New teams and players are always welcome.

"Fun and fitness, what more could anyone want?” Thorburn said.

Best and Fairest for 2018 season:

B&F Male: Corey Appo played awesome all season and was instrumental in developing junior players in team Hammertime.

B&F Females: Tie between Bec Augustine and Toni Dingle. Bec was a standout in every game and stepped up when numbers were lacking. Toni put effort into each game and was reliable in attack and defence.

B&F Junior: Jayden Sene. Jayden has freakish skill and a deadly step. Loves the rabbit runs!
