LET'S be honest, most homes are styled and dominated by women. Men may have a say in some things if they want to, so what about giving blokes a retreat?

Thankfully there are now options to create a dedicated man's space other than in the back shed.

The easiest choice is to convert a spare bedroom, or any under-utilised room in the home. Another option is to convert an unused garage into a man cave.

How to style a man cave:

You want to decorate and style to the gentleman's taste, purpose and interests.

There are obvious tips, such as choosing masculine colours and solid pieces of furniture, but there are some great shortcut decor solutions like using laser-printed wallpapers that add instant personality.

Accessories count for plenty in a man cave.

If he likes to travel, consider displaying beautiful old maps and globes.

A sports fan will appreciate framed club mementos. If the man is more about going for gold on the sofa, an entertainment unit and fabulous seating should be just the ticket.

If the chap in question is all business, create a sleek boardroom look complete with bookshelves and a fully stocked bar. For the game-players, perhaps an old school vintage pinball machine.

A man cave is a bespoke space where the man feels truly at home.
