A NORTH Burnett school will soon be better connected thanks to funding from the Federal Government's Mobile Black Spot Program.
The Federal Government announced a 4G satellite small cell base station would be constructed at Monogorilby State School as it called for nominations for the next round of funding.
Last month, the Federal Government announced an additional $160 million for the Mobile Black Spot Program to continue into rounds five and six.
Previously completed base stations under the program include Mulgildie, Coalstoun Lakes and Abercorn.
Round-four base stations will be brought online in the second half of 2019. Exact timing will be made available on mobile carriers' websites.
Since the second round, small cell base stations have been required to have a coverage area of 5sq km.
Member for Flynn Ken O'Dowd said he understood the importance of fixing telecommunications blackspots.
"It's true that coverage is getting better and better, and the extra $160 million in this year's budget to keep rolling out these towers means we can keep filling in gaps in coverage," Mr O'Dowd said.
"There are still a few blackspots that need attention, including the stretch between Eidsvold and Mundubbera and north of Proston.
"This new funding is a golden opportunity for people to nominate these types of areas so they can go into the mix for a mobile base station."
North Burnett residents can nominate a site by calling Mr O'Dowd's office on 4972 5465, or emailing ken.o'dowd.mp@aph.gov.au.
Mobile network operators and infrastructure providers need to register their interest by April 26, while applications close on July 26.
