Field archers shooting for more members

North Burnett Field Archers’ first club shoot of the year will be on February 2 and double as a come-and-try day.

NORTH Burnett Field Archers will hold its first club shoot on February 2, in a month all about coming to try the sport.

The club is encouraging anyone with a keen interest in archery to attend the come-and-try day, when the club will supply all the required ­equipment free of charge.

NBFA spokeswoman Pauleen Dakin said 2020 was set to be an amazing year.

“For the month of February we will be running a come-and-try month for all wanting to come and try a new sport,” Dakin said.

“These events will be free of charge with and participants not needing to bring any equipment.

“Archery is great for all fitness and ability levels.”

The come-and-try day will have a sausage sizzle lunch to raise funds for the club.

The NBFA is also approaching its 10th birthday in August and Dakin says the club would like to see new and old faces new to help celebrate.

“We have our fifth annual trad (traditional archery) weekend on August 1 and 2 and this will see past and present members celebrate the club’s 10th birthday,” she said.

“We will likely see archers from all over Queensland and Australia travel to Gayndah for the birthday celebrations.”

Trad participants will use wooden long bows and wooden arrows.
