USING a solar-powered security camera, Gavin Ford, has captured curious crows and dingoes nibbling at his equipment, and what appears to be a dingo's selfie.

The Arlo GO camera has so far helped more than 50 residents in the North Burnett live stream vision from their properties, but Mr Ford wasn't expecting the spectacular footage of wildlife that came with it.

"I set mine up at a dam and it's amazing what footage we captured in 24 hours," Mr Ford said.

"We were then able to set traps and catch plenty of dingoes."

Mr Ford owns Gavin Ford Mobiles at Mundubbera.

His business recently beat every other Telstra partner in Australia for the sale of the Arlo Go.

He said even though it was small store, they won because of the value the weather-resistant camera provides to property owners.

"It's perfect for rural areas because it hasn't got to be connected to Wi-Fi, it runs off a sim card so wherever there's mobile phone coverage you can use it," he said.

"You can use it to check water points, cattle troughs and feral pests.

"It saves one of our customers an hour of driving to check on cattle troughs at his property."

A notification is sent to the owner's mobile when activity is detected by the camera.

From Gavin Ford Mobiles the portable camera is available on a plan for $35 per month.

Mr Ford said once it is initially charged it requires zero maintenance as it's powered by solar equipment.
