Young mum needs North Burnett's help

Gayndah mother Heidi Pringle needs financial help after shocking diagnosis of promyelocytic leukemia.

GAYNDAH'S Heidi Pringle was flown to Brisbane with uncontrollable bleeding on a Sunday night in early June.

She received multiple blood transfusions before being diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia.

Just hours earlier Ms Pringle was counting her blessings: two healthy young boys Cahal and Billy, a happy family with her fiancé Lincoln Driver and a normal life.

Since the diagnosis, which is extremely rare and affects only about 100 Australians every year, Ms Pringle has undergone intensive treatment and has another eight months of chemotherapy ahead of her.

While the financial cost of lost wages, travel, accommodation and medical expenses is high, it is the emotional cost that is far higher and it has pulled at the heartstrings of another young local mum who is on a mission to help.

Amanda Zahl, a mother of two young children, will host an online auction to raise money for Ms Pringle to help with the family's unexpected expenses.

"While going through treatment must be extremely difficult physically and financially, I can't imagine going through the heartache of being separated from my children for extended periods of time,” she said.

"As a mum myself, my heart just breaks for her.”

Amanda came up with the idea of auctioning off her stallion's service fee, and after speaking with others in the horse industry, soon had a number of service fees, two weeks of professional training, farrier services and more donated in order to fund raise for Ms Pringle.

Amanda is now putting out a call for auction donations.

With support from another local mum, Amanda Wenck, the online auction is set to be held in early September.

"We don't want to limit auction items only to the horse industry. We already have two-nights' accommodation in a unit at Mooloolaba up for auction and are hoping to have a number of different items included,” Ms Wenck said.

The online auction will take place through the Facebook page Come Unity Fundraising Auction for Heidi Pringle.
