A teenage girl from the Burnett is reportedly “doing well” after she was flown to the Queensland Children's Hospital following a fall from a horse which left her in a serious condition on Saturday.

The girl and a friend were riding on a Deep Creek property when their horses reportedly spooked, throwing off their riders, knocking one girl unconscious for a period of time.

It is believed some workers had come across two horses in a paddock with saddles on them without anyone nearby, and when they went to investigate, they found the two injured teens nearby.

The rescue chopper was called into action at noon.

The LifeFlight Rescue helicopter pilot landed the aircraft near the scene of the incident, where the aeromedical crew met with local Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics to treat the patient, as well as another teenage girl.

The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew took the teenage girl to hospital, with a severe head injury.

A Queensland Children’s Hospital spokesman said on Monday the teenage girl was “doing well” and was in a stable condition following the accident.

The second teenage girl was taken by road to the Gayndah Hospital with minor shoulder injuries.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said the injuries were minor, and the teen was transported as a precaution following the fall.

The teens told the medical crew the horses spooked and threw them off.
