More than 300 students from across Monto’s five schools have come together to create a heartwarming video dedicated to the region.

Supported and funded by Kellco Rural Agencies, the students were filmed across the region singing a song written just for them by popular songwriter Josh Arnold.

The week long adventure that was bringing together students, teachers, family and friends culminated in the video, with students from Monto State School, Monto State High School, St Therese’s Catholic Primary School, Mulgildie State School and Abercorn State School.

The video is one of hundreds created by Josh Arnold in his ten years as a songwriter for regional schools and communities.

He said the initiative titled Three Moons was unique in that five schools came together compared to his usual practice of working with one school at a time.

“I’m really proud of it, I think it's a testament to the community, because the community was so committed that’s what made it great,” he said.

He credited the support of parents and Monto locals, who made their homes, properties, animals, boats and machinery available at the drop of hat.

The video went live around 6pm Tuesday and racked up more than 700 likes and 450 shares across Facebook by Wednesday morning.

With more than 24,000 likes and 31,000 followers on Facebook, Mr Arnold said he hopes the video showcases the beauty of the region.

“I’ve got so many followers on Facebook now, and I know some of these grey nomads follow the videos so keenly sometimes they map out a hit list to visit after they watch my videos,” he said.

Real Estate Agent for Kellco Louisa Brambling was a key driver behind organising the video and while she was grateful for the platform it gave the community said the video meant much more than hits online.

“Essentially, the whole thing behind the giving back to the community initiative, is that the kids are the future of our community,” she said.

“Bringing these kids some opportunities that they otherwise wouldn’t get is the whole basis behind it.”
