THE Mount Perry community will celebrate Easter at the town's show on April 20.

A new look committee are busy with preparations including secretary Judy Fenn.

Ms Fenn has never previously been involved with the show and stepped up when she heard the event was under threat due to a lack of volunteers.

"I didn't know what I was in for so it has been a big learning curve,” she said.

"We have been all working well together, but it has been daunting at times.”

With a new look committee will come a new look show with one of the biggest changes being the inclusion of a campdraft to replace team penning.

"We have got a good response with people from Rockhampton and Biloela enquiring and are hoping it brings people from more diverse areas to the show,” Ms Fenn said.

There will also be new inclusions and the return of old favourites for kids at the show.

There will be six different types of rides and slides, dodgem cars will be at the show for the first time and show bags will be on offer for the first time in recent years.

The biggest change in the pavilion is the Easter theme for exhibits.

Circus performer Tyrone O'Reilly will be putting a smile on people's faces and competitors will test their strength in the woodchop.

Before the sun sets it will be bike against horse with the running of the barrel race and the night's entertainment will be capped off by fireworks.

While Easter will provide a great atmosphere for the show the time of year also means many of the shows regular volunteers will be away for the event.

The committee is calling for more volunteers to help people to man the gate and help with catering and will offer a free barbecue for their efforts.
