Butcher back in business after truck crash

MUNDUBBERA Butchering Co is back up and running after a truck crashed into the shop front yesterday morning.

The walkway in front of the shop was left covered in debris and shop owners Tim and Robyn Duggan had to wait for professionals to clean it up due to asbestos contained in the roofing.

In the meantime, the walkway in front of the butcher was barricaded off.

"We're dealing with a loss of trade when we're getting ready for Christmas,” Mr Duggan said.

"What's left of the awning has to be pulled down, so we will just have the shopfront there.”

Mr Duggan said the corner of the truck hit the corner of the butcher shop.

"The men were in the shop and I was in the back shed but I heard it - just a big crash,” he said.

"It sounded like things kept crashing, it went on for a little while and I thought 'what's that?'.”

Three steel beams on the shop front were bent forward.

The Duggans dealt with the inconvenience the best they could, trading out of their back door which customers could access via the side alley.

The butcher shop is working with the truck company to sort out insurance.

"Luckily there was no one in the street, luckily no one was injured,” Mr Duggan said.
