MORE than 100 motorcycle enthusiasts from around the state took to the streets of Biggenden this morning to show off their historic motorcycles.
The Childers branch of the Historic Motorcycle Club of Queensland had the opportunity to host the club's 2019 Annual General Meeting, and Biggenden was the chosen destination.
The meeting, held today, was run in conjunction with a weekend rally and club members have set up camp at Biggenden showgrounds.
Treasurer of the Childers Area Geoff Brown lives at Dallarnil and said he was excited to lead the rally through his local area.
"Historic motorbikes are nice to ride, you don't have to go quick, and it's a relaxing thing to do,” he said.
"You get to know other people and see what they're doing with their bikes.
"There is a rally on just about every month so you get to find places to ride that you never would have otherwise, because that local knowledge is there.”
Mr Brown recently co-established the Childers area branch of the Queensland Club.
"Bundaberg was the closest area within the club so a friend and I decided to start up a Childers area and once we got going we were asked if we'd like to host the AGM,” he said.
From 30 years old to 100 years old, the motorcycles buzzing around Biggenden are of all different makes and models.
Today new members of the management committee will be selected and awards will be presented for members who have excelled in their contribution to the club over the past 12 months.
