Young boy flown to hospital after being hit by cow on North Burnett property

UPDATE: New details have emerged after a young boy was flown to hospital after an incident with cattle this morning.

It‘s believed the boy was on the back of a stationary ute, in a cow enclosure, when the cattle became agitated.

He reportedly jumped out of the vehicle in an attempt to get away, when he was hit by a cow, suffering facial injuries.

The rescue helicopter was called to the private property just before 9am.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue pilot landed at the scene, before the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic worked to treat the patient.

The boy, accompanied by his mother, was flown to the Bundaberg Hospital in a stable condition.

EARLIER: A young boy has been flown to hospital after being injured by cattle on a rural Queensland property.

It was reported that at 8.40am, the child was trampled by a cow on a private property in Biggenden, west of Bundaberg.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesman confirmed crews treated the boy for head injuries at the property.

He was flown in a stable condition to Bundaberg Hospital.

A month ago Burnett farmer John Muller thanked LifeFlight and made a $3500 donation to the organisation after crediting them with saving his life in a similar incident.

While preparing the cattle for sale on September 13, Mr Muller had trouble tagging the ear of one heifer and decided to climb up the side of the crush.

The 75-year-old lost his footing and fell into the crush, frightening the six heifers that responded by trampling and kicking him for several minutes.

He was taken to Murgon Hospital then flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital under the care of the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care doctor.

“I don’t think I would be here today if it wasn’t for LifeFlight,” he said.
